I’ve ran a few marathons in my time, but that was a few years back when I was a bit younger and had some more spare time on my hands. The last one I ran was London Marathon and I hit a record time (for me!!) of 4hours 19 minutes which I was very happy with, and more than content to hang up my long distance runners in favor of more regular, shorter running and gym sessions.
But a few months ago I got a call from my mate Richard back in the UK, and he was keen to do his first marathon and asked me to join him for motivation and “for the craic”!. So we searched for a Fall time marathon to attend. It had to be in Europe, easily reachable from Germany and the UK, and not very hilly!
We finally agreed on the Nice-Cannes Marathon in Southern France, on November 13th! I would have loved to have done Dublin Marathon again on October 30th but for other reasons we couldnt make that date, but Nice is certainly a nice place to head to. Its very easy to get to from Germany (Lufthansa fly there from Frankfurt Main) and flights were around €121 return which is very good.
Temperature should be around 20 C too, so thats perfect for running!
I’ll post some pics of the day when I have them. 🙂
