We were lucky enough to spend last weekend at a very famous motor racing circuit as guests of Raceworks Motorsport, to watch the Spa Classic 6 Hour Endurance Race weekend.
And what a weekend it was! We saw lots of fantastic cars, each with a racing pedigree to be proud of, plus a few famous racing drivers from Formula1’s glory days of the Senna-Berger-Prost-Mansell-etc era… we were star struck! And of course the racing was awesome as you would expect.
What we didn’t expect was to find such a scenic setting. The Francorchamps circuit is actually embedded into a forest. On Friday we went mountain biking for two hours – all within the race track! It was a brilliant way to see the cars qualifying for their forthcoming races, and explore the circuit whilst getting some exercise – it was very beautiful. We had to walk the bike up a few hills, including the famous Eau Rouge climb and curve. The ride down was pretty awesome though!
If you are a fan of motor racing, or cars in general then you have lots of opportunities to find many different race meetings close by. Within a 2-hour drive of the KMC you can reach Francorchamps (Spa, Belgium), Hockenheimring and the infamous Nürburgring. Check out their websites to find out what events are coming up. You can even book track days and drive your own car, or a rented sports car around the circuits yourself… if you dare!
